Cosmos Seeds: Detailed Care Guide

1. Seeding:

   • Cosmos seeds can be sown directly outdoors after the last frost or started indoors 4-6 weeks earlier.
   • Plant the seeds about ¼ inch deep in well-drained soil.
   • Space seeds 12-18 inches apart to allow for their bushy growth.
   • Germination usually occurs within 7-10 days.

2. Growing:

   • Cosmos plants grow best in full sun, requiring at least 6 hours of sunlight per day.
   • They can grow quite tall, ranging from 1.5 to 6 feet, depending on the variety.
   • Thin seedlings when they are about 3-4 inches tall to avoid overcrowding, promoting better air circulation.
   • Cosmos plants are tolerant of poor soil and often do better in less fertile conditions, as rich soil may cause fewer blooms.

3. Care:

   • Cosmos are easy to grow and require minimal maintenance.
   • Deadheading (removing spent flowers) encourages continuous blooming throughout the summer and into the fall.
   • These plants are relatively pest-free, but occasionally you may notice aphids or spider mites. Use insecticidal soap if necessary.
   • Cosmos can self-seed, so you may find new plants growing in the same spot the following year.

4. Temperature:
